talk-IT FAQ

Q: What is the talk-IT forum about?
The talk-IT forum allows registered members to discuss subjects or topics that are to do with information technology.

Q: In simple terms, how does the talk-IT forum work?
Registered members can post new threads or topics in the board/section that is relevant to the subject that they wish to raise or talk about. Other registered users that find the subjects interesting can then respond. In the technical sense, the talk-IT forum operates in a similar way to other forum sites in terms of user preferences, permissions and so on.

Q: Is the talk-IT forum free to use?

The talk-IT forum is free to use.

Q: Does the talk-IT forum cover everything to do with information technology?
No. It would be practically impossible for the talk-IT forum to cover everything. However, we have covered as wide a range of subjects relating to information technology as possible.

Q: Can registered members include visual content with their threads?
Yes! Members are freely allowed to add images and video-clips to threads. Default posting permissions allows users to either upload content from their own devices, or to reference content held on file/video sharing sites with URLs.

Q: Can threads be about anything?
No! Users can't post absolutely anything in their posts or in answers to them. Whilst the talk-IT forum tries to be as diverse as possible, obvious things that aren't allowed would be anything racially or sexually offensive and hate-speech. Please read the Forum terms of use for the full list of what can't be posted.

Q: Is the talk-IT forum moderated?
Yes. The talk-IT forum is moderated, but please bare in mind that talk-IT forum moderators may not be experts in the subject areas covered, so members' discretion is appreciated.

Q: What can registered members include in signatures under avatars/user names and at the end of posts?
Members can include textual references or slogans and their domain name (if they have one) in signatures under their avatar/user name or at the end of posts.
